Acoustic Blue

"How Sweet the Sound" is how the Hartford Courant referred to Bear's singing, which is no wonder since Bear's lifestyle for over 34 years now has been performing bluegrass music.

Bear’s greatest musical influence was his Grandfather, who gave him his beginning bluegrass notes. Bear refers to his Grandfather as his "Bill Monroe". From listening to his Grandfather and working hard at his music, years later Bear was able to form one of the most popular bands known to the Northeast as, Bear Acker and Billings Gap.  He then moved on to trying his hand at playing bass for the popular Thunder Mountain Bluegrass and now playing bass for Acoustic Blue. In his free time, you can catch Bear playing banjo for Andy Pawlenko and the Smokey Hollow Boys.

So, with a lifetime worth of experience working on the stage, he is able to put across a great realm of traditional songs. Even though most recently known for his solid Bass playing and sweet baritone lines, he is no stranger to a wide range of other instruments. In fact, he is a great educator for the other members.

Bear puts his entire heart into playing and singing. He says that he plays every show like it's his last, and if you get the chance to see Bear perform you will see just that.
