In a simple farmers field, in the heart of New England, is where Mike's first bluegrass venture began with a traditional band called Cedar Ridge. Mike quickly became well known for his dynamic banjo style and contemporary vocal flavor. Over the past 15 years, Mike has had the opportunity to play with some great bands. He most recently played with the Cabin Fever Band and before that was traveling with Echo Mountain. He has been able to travel and play back and forth across the country and into Canada. If you ask him who he favors on the banjo, he'll tell you Don Stover, but it's nice to hear him throw those J. D. Crowe or Bill Keith licks in too. His banjo style allows itself to fit in with the various types of material Acoustic Blue performs. Whether it's a traditional hard-driving bluegrass song or a popular country song from the 50's, Mike is right there with just the right sound. When you hear the band perform you'll have the chance to hear Mike sing some soulful tunes. He adds a lot of the "blue" in Acoustic Blue. Along with his great lead vocals, Mike adds the "high lonesome" sound with his great tenor singing. Mike certainly adds a lot to Acoustic Blue's sound with his driving banjo and sweet harmony vocals. |
